Va-Va-Va-Voom! I love Burlesque!

I have a new obsession. Burlesque shows.

Last weekend hubby and I went to the Nouvelle Burlesque Review in Dallas and fell head over heels in lust. Times three. Lord, have mercy.

I’ve been to a couple of burlesque shows in the past. In fact, my parents took me to my first one in Vegas (Follies Bergere at the Tropicana) years ago during my 21st birthday celebration weekend. You read that right. I had a friend with me as well, so it wasn’t like it was just me and my parents. But I’d never seen so many bare breasts in all my life (other than the pasties). It was fascinating and seemed so sensual and artistic; several steps up from your average strip club performances.

The other one I attended with Rick maybe three years ago. Again, had a great time, as he is a boob man and pretty much has turned me into a boob girl myself, in terms of playmate preference. But I digress…

So the Nouvelle Burlesque Review was my third show. They say third time’s a charm and WOW, did that cliché ring true.

La Divina Productions, the show’s creator, has assembled the most beautiful dancers in the world. After the show, Rick and I came away with three favorites, to whom I’ll gladly give a little free publicity as my humble way of saying, “thank you” for stocking my mental Rolodex with some hot, hi-def memories. Although our phone cameras didn’t really do them justice, (I just used the one we had of Minxie; the others are from the official websites) so you might want to check out their links for more pics. And, no, they’re not paying me anything to write this.

La Divina

La Divina is an exotic beauty with smokin’ hot curves. La Divina has been a burlesque performer in the Dallas area for three and a half years. After performing in numerous smoky dive bars, ultra lounges, casinos and restaurants, she and a partner formed La Divina Productions with the goal to bring the highest quality level of entertainment to Dallas. Mission accomplished.

Blaze –The Red Rose of Texas is another remarkable beauty. She is also a costume designer and a military veterant, – a multi-talented lady!

Rick and I decided Minxie Mimieux is our new girl crush. She’s just 21 years old, so we might be robbing the cradle a bit, but she might be the most beautiful redhead we’ve seen, with the most amazing body. She has definitely earned the right to stand next to Christina Hendricks on our mantle of redhead girl crushes.

One thing I never noticed about Burlesque, is that there are few blondes who perform in this medium. Most of the ones I’ve seen are either redheads or brunettes of some degree. I appreciate that La Divina Productions celebrates redheads, whether they’re natural or not.

Another great thing about this medium is that curves are welcomed and celebrated, and I was so inspired after watching this show the other night that I’ve been looking online for burlesque classes around town.

If you ever have a chance to attend a burlesque review, DO IT! These shows celebrate beautiful women in a tasteful, sexy and romantic way. In fact, I should have added my suggestion to see a show to my earlier posting about “How to get your lady in the mood” a few days ago, because ladies, you can’t help but come away from a show like that feeling kinda horny and happy.

Have you been to a Burlesque performance? Do you have a favorite dancer?

I am so glad you loved it. Diamond Jim and La Divina have the classiest show in Dallas, by far. I am a boob man myself and often find it disappointing to walk in to topless bars and find twigs with no boobs to be all they have. And yes, they way the burlesque is performed, it is more erotic than watching a girl try to move around a topless bar stage in 8″ heels. Other good suggestions, the lollibombs, when they get together, have a pretty good burlesque/comedy show. If you happen to be in the Ft Worth Stock show on a Friday night, the Basement Bar has a small burlesque show every Friday night that starts about 9 or 10pm. It’s a short show, about an hour long, so I wouldn’t suggest driving across town just for that, but it’s a decent show to watch.
If you walk in to burlesque expecting something like the movie Cher and Christina Aguilera made, you will be wrong, but very happy to find out it is far more erotic and entertaining than that turned out to be.

Thanks for the comments, Bryan. We will definitely check out Lollibombs, and I didn’t even know about the Basement Bar! It’s always good to have several options, isn’t it? I didn’t even mention the guy who sang during the intermission. I think they said he was a performer with the Dallas Opera or something like that, and his voice was AMAZING. He did more of a jazz set than opera, but his performance was incredible. I wish I could remember his name. It’s just another example of the very high level of entertainment La Divina and Diamond Jim produce for their audiences. Thanks again for visiting. Hope you come back soon!
